Educators are still curious about ways to identify and support students with dyslexia. Why is it so hard to identify and address? Hearing the word dyslexia can make educators uncomfortable, possibly because we know about the challenges and concentrate on how hard it can be to find the right interventions and supports. Happily, new research and instructional methods have been developed to assist teachers in identifying and supporting students with dyslexia.
Together, we will:
  • Discuss current expectations educators have in supporting students with dyslexia
  • Learn strategies to screen and identify students who may have dyslexia or other reading related challenges
  • Participate in hands-on activities and collaborative conversations about dyslexia
  • Learn from other educators how they address this challenge in their school
  • Explore possible interventions and opportunities to motivate and inspire students with dyslexia
  • Take away resources for screening and identifying students with characteristic of dyslexia and to inform parents and the community.
