Spark Session: The Urgency of Equity: Addressing the Opportunity Gap

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

New this year, Spark Sessions are 30-minute sessions with a specific topic or challenge in mind. These sessions are optional to attend. Not seeing a session that meets your needs? Feel free to check out our great exhibits, do some shopping at the Book Fair, or grab some coffee with a colleague!

Gorski’s structural mindset and Khalifa, Gooden, and Davis’s Culturally Responsive School Leadership (CRSL) Framework will be synthesized to underpin leadership action that addresses the opportunity gap. Participants will be better equipped to recognize and combat the bias and inequity that undermine educational engagement for students experiencing poverty. Attendees will be introduced to strategies that will help improve schools, particularly for the most marginalized students. Every participant will leave this session with at least one activity, effort, or initiative to implement in his/her school to better serve students and families experiencing poverty.
